As a native of El Paso, Texas, I attended several schools in the El Paso ISD. College degrees include a B.S. Education in Secondary Education from Texas Western College (UTEP), and a Master of Business Education from West Texas A&M (Canyon). My teaching career began in 1968 as a Business Education teacher, and continued for the next 30 years at the same high school. Instruction evolved from teaching typing and bookkeeping into computer-assisted instruction involving computerized accounting, microcomputer applications, and computer programming using BASIC, COBOL, C++, and HTML. After retiring from Texas public schools in 1998, I continued teaching business subjects at both private and public high schools. Shortly afterwards, I worked with the Alternative Certification Program in the College of Education (UTEP) as a Secondary Consultant. Currently employed with the El Paso ISD in instructional technology, my focus is on helping PK-12 teachers integrate technology into their classroom teaching environment. Larry Nelson |
